reformat my WD Passport to store photos

I would like to reformat my WD Passport and use for external photo storage not for backup It is now full of unwanted data and I want to start over and just use as an external drive. (formatting scares me)

Go ahead and quick format the drive but do not use it to store your only copies of photos. Anything you dont want to lose ever needs to be stored in several locations. All harddrives break, its just a matter of when. You need to plan for this disaster and keep multiple copies of all your precious data.
