I have been provided with a DVD showing CCTV footage. I need to establish if the original CCTV footage has been edited. When I put the DVD in my computer it shows it is made up of several BUP files, IFO files and VOB files. Is this an indication that the footage may have been edited or is it normal to have several files even where the footage is continuous? Thank you.

1: If the dvd is not an +/-rw then it cant have been edited and then copied back to the original dvd. If you know the date the footage was supposedly from then any other/later date on the disk would mean its been rewritten.

2: since you are in no way an expert, anything you do with this disk will not hold up in any court and likely render it insubmittable. I'm not sure that applies in this case but you need to be aware of that.

You can google for DVD file system but I'll add that vob files can only be 1gb maximum to be in DVD compliance so yes its normal to have more than 1 vob file even for continuous footage.
