Hi,

What is the current best 120hz monitor for gaming (BF3 etc). Price range is around £500... will be willing to go more if its good.

Looking for a size between 27" to 32" not bothered about the 3d support.

The Asus VG278H and VG278HE are good. They are 3D Vision monitors. The lightboost gives you near 0 motion blur: http://www.blurbusters.com/zero-motion-blur/lightboost/

That said, have you actually used 3D Vision? I wasn't expecting to like it when I got my 120hz monitor, but now I don't play without 3D Vision the majority of the time.

I've not used it no... do you need the glasses for that? I have not looked into 3D much at all.

The Asus VG278H comes with the whole kit, the VG278HE does not, but is 144hz and known to have a bit more color problems. That said, if you had an AMD card, you might look into some of Samsung's 120hz monitors.

My opinion is to look for a Samsung 120hz monitor that supports HD3D. They are known to be good monitors. I personally think that if you get a 120hz monitor, you might as well get the 3D option with it. You might not like 3D, but some people love it, and it is worth finding out for yourself since most if not all 120hz monitors are designed for 3D.

The problem is finding one in stock, but look for these:
SAMSUNG T27A750
Samsung SyncMaster S27A950D
There is a 700 series as well.

Hey,

Looked at all of those but hard to find any in stock anywhere!
Any other suggestions?

Thanks for the help so far :)

Sadly, AMD doesn't seem to have anyone supporting their HD3D except from TV's and passive systems atm. Samsung was the one pushing AMD the best, but I don't know of any active shutter alternatives that will allow 1080p at 60hz in 3D.

If you want to look for yourself, to see else is out there, go for it. I can't help you it seems. Perhaps you could just get one of the 3D Vision setups, and try 3D when you upgrade your video card next time by getting an Nvidia card.

I would say go with the benqxl2720t, its a 27" monitor, 1ms response time and 120hz. I have the last gen one(xl2420t) and I love it. I just had to adjust the color settings but after that it was good to go! I haven't tried the 3D yet since I have a 7970 also but I do plan on trying it if amd next series of gpus aren't great. I play a lot of bf3 and 120hz really does make it smooth. I play on ultra and never dips below 60fps.

I would say go with the benq monitor, it's a very good monitor for gaming and its cheaper then the asus ones but if you're looking into 3D gaming then get the asus monitor. I think you have to buy some extra accessories for the benq monitor to play in 3D well not sure that's how it was with the last gen monitors. Honestly I would go with benq but I'm more into the competitive side of gaming(FPS and RTS).
