do i need a fan on my desktop case?

do i need a fan on my desktop case... i only have a 450w power supply.The case has 2 fans on the side. They make so much noise i can't bare it.. BUT would not want to overheat my system.. please help!!

You could replace them by quiet fans, but are they noisy because they run at full speed? If so, are they connected to the motherboard and what fan profile is defined in the BIOS? You normally need at least one fan because relying on the PSU to extract heat from the case is not good, unless you have a very efficient system. The PSU will get hotter, its fan will have to spin faster and that could make it noisy.

I will check the BIOS later.. but i think they are only connected by the power supply nothing else..

Then your fans always spin at full speed. They should be controlleed by the mtherboard; that way they'll spin at full speed only if required. If your system doesn't generate that much heat, you could also drop the voltage to 7V (using an adapter or switching wires on the connectors) to slow them down.
