Minimizing IE and Firefox House of Pain

It seems that browser redirects, etc increasingly inflect huge hits on my productivity. Is there a benefit to moving these programs to a separate partition on my harddrive so that I could wipe them easily and replace without having to do everything? Or would the problems still spill over into the Windows partition regardless?

If you did that, the regkeys would still be stored in the Windows directory. Unless you know what you're doing, just uninstall anything you don't want through 'Programs and features' in Control Panel
