Is there any reason why this option isn't populating on news/article threads?

More about : stop tracking thread

It should be there for you if you are viewing them in forum view. Article view might be a little wonky - we're still working out a few kinks there at the moment.

Nope. Neither options are showing.

What do you see at the bottom of the first page in thread view for an article commentary forum page?
It should read: E-mail me updates | Track this thread | BBCode | Convert Post to Tutorial | Report abuse
Here for example, at the bottom of Jane's first post. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-1707782/men-put-in...

It is missing the "Stop tracking this thread"

That's really quite weird. What browser are you using? Are you logged in as a regular member with the standard sign-in, or are you using the social sign-in option? Is it only article commentary you are seeing this on?

Standard sign-in. I have tried firefox, chrome, and explorer. It is strange indeed. The issue is predominantly in article commentary but I have seen it in regular forum threads as well as of late.

Hrm, so it's random in article commentary for you? Do some threads show up with tracking available, while others don't?

I should clarify, I am able to track new threads. However, I am currently not able to stop tracking threads that are being tracked.

Are these older threads that you are unable to stop tracking? Threads from before March 2013 or thereabouts?
Just trying to narrow down the source. Could you link me to one you can't stop tracking?
June 20, 2013 1:27:19 PM

These are newer threads. This thread is a prime example. It seems that once a thread has "matured" and ends up being multiple pages, the option appears but any single page thread does not populate the link.

Other examples:

http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1707241/buld-650...
http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-1696218/sandisk-ex...

EDIT:
I did find a workaround solution. If I remove the thread extension from the URL, the option to stop tracking a thread does appear.

Ahhh, interesting. So without the thread response anchor, it works for you?

If you click on the Quote marks at the top of the article, that links you to "View these comments on the Forum" or words to that effect, then you un follow as normal from within the forum.
It should be and has been since the update located at the bottom of the first POST not the page.

I've forwarded this along to the devs to investigate the issue. Hopefully there will be a fix.

On this thread I have an "Unfollow" button in the first post, but in the threads I actually want to unfollow or to stop tracking, there is no such a button.

Take out the "#numbers" from the end of the url. Make sure you are on page 1 of the discussion, refresh the page a few times until the unsubscribe option appears.

I have tried that but then I get "404 - page not found".

For exsample, this thread: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/3106-56-best-gaming...

With removed numbers: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/-best-gaming-cpus-m...

I have also tried it like this: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/best-gaming-cpus-mo... and this: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/best_gaming_cpus_mo...

Same error...

I meant the number at the end of the url after the ".html"
