Hey guys, first time posting here so please let me know if I'm doing it wrong.

Okay so I know my stuff fairly well at this point when it comes to computer components but I've come to a bit of a crossroads.

I'm looking to order the parts to my new editing (with a bit of gaming) PC.
My build will be geared towards Adobe software; Photoshop, A LOT of After Effects, and I'm beginning to move into 3D modeling/Animation. Also I'm putting in a decent GPU because I'm sick and tired of having to deal with cheap parts. And I want to play minecraft. *Wink face* My carrier is mainly in audio though but as of now I can't afford a lot of the equipment I need. I need this build to be able to run some pretty intense audio software.

Here's my problem. I was originally planning on this build:
Case: COOLER MASTER Storm Stryker SGC
Mobo: ASUS SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0 AM3+
GPU: EVGA SuperClocked w/ ACX Cooling 02G-P4-2774-KR GeForce GTX 770 2GB 256-bit
CPU: AMD FX-8350 Vishera 4.0GHz
SSD: SAMSUNG 840 Series MZ-7TD120BW 2.5" 120GB SATA III
RAM: G.SKILL Sniper Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866
HD: Western Digital WD Blue WD10EZEX 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache
Wifi: TP-LINK TL-WDN4800 Dual Band Wireless N900 PCI Express Adapter, 2.4GHz 450Mbps/5GHz
Cooler: CORSAIR Hydro Series H80i Water Cooler

I'll be running 2x24 inch monitors.

But I'm worried that with the AMD 9000 series possibly coming out around this fall that it might be a bad idea to go with the older tech.

I was looking into the i7 3770k and the 4770k instead, getting rid of the SSD in my build to save money.

I plan on overclocking the CPU I chose as far as the h80i will take it, and if it really makes a difference the h100i.

The 3770k is reliable, cheaper, has cheaper mobos but is going to be older tech and I plan on using this machine for at least 4 years.

On the other hand the 4770k is more expensive, has more expensive mobos, and overclocks to about the same but is newer tech. I was planning on using this http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?Ite...
(On micro center I could spend the same about and get the Asus Sabertooth. T-T)

So, is it worth moving all the way up to the 4770k? Getting a more advanced mobo with a 3770k? Or just sticking with my soon to be outdated fx8350? What do you think will suit my needs best?

Thanks so much in advance for your help. I really need it.

(Random side note: I wish I lived next to a microcenter... I wouldn't even need to ask for advice. haha)

the 3770k or 4770k is hands down better per "core" than the 8350, the 8350 is comparable to the 3570k. and you can always add an ssd for programs or caching in the future.

those programs use cuda so i would recommend a 770 or a 780. or anything nvidia.

i cant see the link. heres a good website. http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/partlist/

Alright.
Between the two what do you think is the better investment?

I'll manually add my build thanks for letting me know. :)

well, it all depends on what you want to spend, if its not a big deal to you then go for the 4770k and the 780.
780 is a great value because its similar to the titan and $400 less.
i would choose the 3770k or the 4770k depending on the features of the motherboard you think would be useful.
i dont think either cpu is better performance per dollar, they are about even on that front. might as well get the 4770k haha

Thanks,

Yeah it is but I'm already pushing my budget as it is. :)  "Technically" this build isn't supposed to be geared towards gaming at all, I had to get at least the 770 in there though so satisfy most my needs.

I'm new to Intel so I don't really know what mobo will be best for me. I'm trying to keep the mobo under $200. Any recommendations? Needs good overclocking, preferably a lot of USB 3.0, best possibly sound card, and it needs to look sexy. Haha

Edit: I'm checking out the build you posted now.

Edit2: I have a 650w power supply already which should suffice. If not I'll upgrade. The Asus mobo look like it comes with wifi which would save me about $40. Would you say it's better than this board?: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

you must have been writing as i was responding. ^^
i would check out the gold colour on the asus motherboards, some people like it and some dont.
if you dont like it i would reccomend this for overclocking.
MSI Z87-GD65 Gaming LGA 1150 Intel Z87 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Extreme OC High Performance Triple CFX/ SLI Intel Motherboard

that is a bit less expensive but it has recieved a few good awards, or you could go with the sabretooth which is $70 more but has a 5 year warranty. but with that you are stretching your budget depending on your case.

also, is the $1350 just for the pc? or do you need to fit monitors and peripherals in there too?

Haha all the replies getting out of order. I don't mind the gold. IMO looks kinda cool. Yeah that budget is just for the PC. I'm getting two 23*inch monitors which will cost me about $320. I have a razer deathadder mouse. I need a keyboard but I'm just going to use a crappy one until I can afford a nice one.
