Is this hardware powerful enough for a gaming PC?

Hey guys,

So I'm thinking of buying a new PC for gaming, as my current one is extremely outdated. I'm still debating over the specs, but this is what I'm currently thinking of:

* Motherboard: Biostar A960D+ Socket AM3+/AMD 760G/DDR3/A&V&GbE/MicroATX
* CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 965 Quad-Core AM3(3.4 GHz)
* RAM: 16 GB(2 x 8GB) 240-pin DDR3 1600MHz (PC3 12800) Dual Channel
* HDD: Seagate/WD 500 GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s
* GPU: ATI Radeon HD 7770 1GB DDR5

Do you think this hardware is enough for a decent gaming rig? I'm mostly concerned about the GPU. Thanks!

Everything looks fine. 16gb of 1600mhz RAM is definitely fine for gaming, as for the GPU, it's good, but I'd personally go for an 7800 series as they're more higher end. If you're on a budget, the 7770 should fare thee well. Also what manufacturer is for the GPU? I'd get an XFX, some say they're loud, but when your gaming you don't notice, and they have good prices. The CPU is very good for decent gaming, just that they tend to get hot. Depending on what your cooling in your case is, you may or may not want to get an aftermarket CPU fan. Finally, as for the motherboard, it's decent, but to make full use of your graphic card, you should look for a mobo that has a PCIE 3.0 slot. All in all a solid build! Just one thing, where's the case?

That is a very sexy case. That's a really good deal, considering its about $65 and it comes with front, rear, side, and top fans. You should be fine without an aftermarket cooler if you don't overclock much. Yeah, it's a really nice set up! Have fun!

OK, cool. So I've decided on a GTX550 Ti for the GPU. Do you think that this setup will let me play most FPSs with a good framerate on high settings for the next few years?

Oh and the 7790 comes with Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, Tomb Raider, and Bioshock Infinite, so that's three extra pluses right there.

Sweet. I'm buying my PC from computerlx.com, although the XFX isn't on the list you can choose, so I think what I'm going to do is choose the cheapest possible non-onboard graphics chip, then buy the XFX separately and put it in.
