which os i have to use if i have 8gb ram (32or64 in win7)

hello i have problem in my system i have dell precision 690 and system properties : windows 32bit os
8gb ram
processor is xeon ..but profermance is very slow
one of my friend told if i install 64bit for 8gb ram i can get profermance in my system is it correct ,,,.......plz let me

32bit can't use more than 4GB RAM I believe. So 64 bit is ideal.

X79 is correct, if you want to use all 8GB you need 64bit.
