Check out this article on the exclusive arrangement EA has with AMD regarding Frostbite 3 titles:
http://www.pcper.com/news/Graphics-Cards/Rumor-AMD-Gets...

What do you think? It seems AMD's only way to counteract their issues with microstutter is to stop Nvidia from having access to EA's titles prior to release?

What the heck is going on with Nvidia's relationships with companies these days?

They aren't going to be in any of the upcoming consoles and they won't have access to BF4 prior to release for driver optimizations???

More about : junk nvidia

It doesn't matter.

AMD are just sore that Nvidia GPUs absolutely slaughtered AMD's counterparts on Battlefield 3.

Even if AMD get day-one optimized drivers, Nvidia will quickly release some updated drivers after BF4 has been released.

You can safely assume that Nvidia are going to outperform AMD again, even though they've been suckerpunched.

I guess the worrisome part is they don't have deals with the upcoming consoles and now this about EA.

Is Nvidia not playing nice with other companies these days? That's what I'm reading into it?

Pretty much.
After they "fell out" with Intel, it's all gone downhill, relationship-wise.
Still a beast of a company though, making great products.

it's quite strange for nvidia.lastly they tied-up for metro LL and amd had much trouble to run it,nvidia could also tie-up with BF4 and it would be a very good chance for nvidia users.but unfortunately they wouldn't,i think it's bcoz they want to show gamers that without getting tied-up for optimization, they can beat amd through their new driver releases and amd should really look into thie microstutter issue..

Wouldn't it be great if hardware simply performed according to its capabilities and business politics and secret deals didn't even come into it? I'm always happy to wait a month or two for patches and driver optimisations though, even with games I've been looking forwards to for years. I wonder if this was part of AMD's long-term plan when they acquired ATI - acquisition of graphics tech > APUs > cheaper option for next-gen consoles than separate graphics / CPU > software optimisation coup... if they saw the way the dominoes would fall then very clever indeed.

When has Nvidia ever been known for playing nice with other companies?

Anyways, I'm not too worried about this... worst case scenario you just have to wait a week after a game releases to get a new driver, and AMD fans have been dealing with that for years.

Yeah and AMD's driver team hasn't been very good about dealing with ongoing issues either. That's what I worry about.

yeah it's time that they should really and seriously look after their driver versions and their issues. They should also get in depth with the micro stutter issue of their gpu's while in Xfire.

NVidia has never played nice with other companies. That is the main reason I prefer AMD graphics.

That's a pretty stupid reason. AMD don't care that you bought their card. Just buy the best tool for the job.

Well it should put an end to the whining about TWIMTBP whilst putting those same whiners on the back foot as they now try to defend AMD for any game that doesn't work properly on Nvidia cards.

Sorry but immoral business practices plays a big role in whether I will buy a product or not.
Releasing drivers just to disable hybrid physx and then trying to justify it really irked me.

AMD may not "care" if I buy their card or not, but atleast they are not out to screw competitors on purpose at every turn.

With the possible exception of the subject matter of this thread... :-) I'm not concerned though.

This is true. There now should be no excuse AMD company to be performing poorly. We'll see how it all hashes out.

Maybe the fact they haven't aspired to be better than their competitor is AMD's problem altogether then? Business is a battle. In a market where there are only two competitors (such as with consumer GPUs), if you're not the best, you're the worst.

This thread is not to start an AMD v Nvidia discussion. I'm just trying to figure out why Nvidia has made some of the moves they have with regard to consoles and a company like EA. Is this really a downhill slide from a falling out with Intel? Are there any good news articles describing this situation?

Honestly I don't think any company should have rights to early optimization, or both should have the rights.

But not that big of deal, NVidia has been playing this game for so long, they deserve to be on the other side of the coin for a while.
