So since I finally had a HDMI capable card (and limited DVI slots) I switched my PC to TV setup to a single HDMI, I borrowed a buddies cable to test it before I bought one and it worked beyond what I wanted.

Extended Mode would enable automatically (making TV #2, not primary desktop) when I turned the TV on and would disable when I turned the TV off. It would also switch the audio automatically to HDMI (I set HDMI as "primary device") and would disable to my PC speakers when I turned the TV off. It was fully automatic and I freaking loved it as I'm lazy by nature lol.

So I ordered a 1.4 cable off ebay and installed my new one and it no longer does any of this automatically. Any idea why or any setting in AMD I need to reset? I tried looking at his cable but all it says is HDMI and nothing special. Thank you.

Link to the cable purchased.

The only thing his cables have marked are HDMI High Speed and "emp suppressor hdmi"

Well I reinstalled AMD drivers and it works again....although now it's changing my desktop icons around for some reason :/

Found a fix for this problem as well, link for credit and quote for solution - http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/window...

OK. SecurityGuy 14's Solution as Implement by me and a couple of others REALLY works in Windows 7 Professional

In regedit go to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies

Then create Key "Explorer"

Add new DWORD value "NoSaveSettings" and set to 0

To be safe, I exported HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\ and called it noSaveSettingsRestore.reg

Now Reboot and the problem was solved for us.

DWORD = 32 bit on x64 system, or at least that worked for my issue of icons changing when I extended mode.
