If you don't shut down the PC then itis likely to "wake" at any disturbance, even a surge of power whwether irt be a spike or a reduced volume to which a vacuum cleaner is likely to do especially if it is over 1800 watts.

Best to shut down the PC. How to shut down a PC -

Well, then it's probably something to do with memory, surfing the net may include many tabs, more than 15 in any one brwoser session is too many, you need to close the browser then reopen it to start a new session. Some brwsoers actually open a new process for each tab that is opened, it does not stop the process for each tab if you close the tab but only when you exit the browser.

Lack of memory may refer to ram (4gb or less) or less than 30% free space on primary OS hdd, or if you are Yourtubing then it could be the video ram is innefficient for too many tabbed youtube videos in any one session.

Ok, then there can be two things wrong...

1) your cpu is overheating. Make sure you have you cpu cooler running with thermal compound.

2) you psu is malfunctioning and/or it does not have enough wattage

It would be helpful if you posted your system specs

Again, make sure all cords are nice and fit. Or just get another power supply

You only got 2gb of ram, that's barely good enough for xp 32bit let alone any Os later than that. Itmight be that one of the ram chips is at fault, you may need to test the ram modules.

I assume you are running Windows7 x32, even so, at least 3gb if not 4gb would be better, with 4gb you can get as much as 3.5gb ram usage with a 32 bit OS.

The PSU is not really at fault, even a cheap branded PSAU is usually good enough unless you are using a highend video card.

Considering this PSU is new, what did you have previously? If it was much less than 500 watts, it may have done the damage already to the harsdware and you only noticed the difference when the higher volume 500 watt PSU was in use.

Why did you replace the previous PSU and what output was it?

@TenPc his pc was working fine before the psu install
June 24, 2013 2:17:41 PM

If the PC was working fine before the new PSU th3en why did you replace it?
Also, what was the old PSU watts/brand?

Sometimes it takes a higher wattage PSU to weed out the issues of the ram/hdd/video card. It could be not the new PSU actually but your ram/hdd/video card that is at fault and wasa only picked up by the system when a higher wattage psu became available.

A lower watt PSU would not give you the FPS you may want and woul also not provide the watts for long term play or heavy processing.

Replace the power supply
