Hello everyone,

I just recently built my very first computer and is mostly oriented towards gaming.
Anyway, I am going to purchase a monitor and am wondering if it would be worth it to invest into a 120Hz monitor? I have done plenty of research about them and have done the eye testers to see the difference but still unsure about buying one. Eye Tester: http://frames-per-second.appspot.com/ . Also if you guys do think I should get a 120Hz monitor, could you guys help me find a 120Hz monitor with no 3D capability and try to keep it on the cheaper side but still good quality? Thanks.

Specs:
Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth Z77
CPU: Intel Core i5-3570k OC to 4.5GHz
RAM: 8GB Corsair Vengeance
GPU: Gigabyte GTX 670 Windforce OC
HDD: 1TB Seagate
Optical Drive: Asus DVD/CD Burner
Power Supply: Corsair 80 plus Gold 750W
Case: Corsair 650D
CPU Cooling: Corsair H100i

The Asus and Benq ones are good, theres not really any such thing as a 3D monitor, its the 120Hz capability that grants 3D, so you wont find one cheaper. Just take your pick from anything Asus that fits your size requirement and you cant go wrong.

Your system is definitely up to the task, but if or not it is worth it is up to you. I use a 120Hz monitor and outside of 3D I don't really care for it. The image is super smooth, but 60FPS is good enough and its something you only really notice after playing at 120FPS for a while and then seeing how bad 60FPS is, but you get used to it pretty quickly. Even at 60FPS, 120Hz is just better, input feels more responsive and the image will be near enough free from tearing.

Its up to you really, an alternative is a 1440p monitor, it would help if you could use a 120Hz display to see if you think its worth it or not. By the way that eye tester is nonsense.

120hz is not needed better buy a 75hz or a 60hz as the eye and human brain cannot notice any difference above 60hz

...if you cant see any difference above 60Hz, one, why do they make 120Hz panels, and two, why suggest a 75Hz one...

TV's use motion interpolation to create the illusion of 120Hz (or upwards), it looks bad and isn't usable for gaming because of the input lag.

Sounds Interlace as in 1080I Wondering if 1080P or Upscaling lower resolutions to 1080P sounds intersting or Technologies that work to enhance fps on the market 2013 old technologies is 2007 Sharp Aquos Viper Drive Response Time! What new Technologies impress you to speed things up! 1080I looks upscaling resloution and not having enough pixels for defintion kinda of reminds me of Radio Frequency graphics similar to original PlayStation not PSP-2000

So I decided that I am probably going to just go with a normal 1080p 60Hz monitor because I am going to use 1920 X 1080, plus I think it is a little out of my price range. I have one more question, if I did get a 120Hz monitor would I have to get the newest version of HDMI cable? Also, is HDMI the best connection for PC gaming?

If you were using a 120Hz display you'd need Dual Link DVI.

HDMI: more data, 5xxx by 2xxx audio and video
Dvi-dl: Very Very high amounts of data, low cable lenghth, may need a booster for 144hz
