i want to know the CPU architecture

Hello everyone,
i am an IT student and i have this Computer architecture subject which i find difficult and complicated, it is about the hardware components like CPU, I/O modules. I wish if somebody could give me some explanation on how does the CPU works, how the computer performs its operations. would be happy if you recommend some online resources regarding this module.
