Hello everyone, thanks for taking the time to read my post/offer advice!

I am going to build my first computer coming this fall, and I want to spend ideally $600-1000, keeping in mind that hopefully I can get some parts on black Friday/boxing day. Essentially I need help on the parts (feel free to tear me a new one on bad choices ;)). This computer will be used for gaming, school (including possible physics simulations), very light video editing (no priority at all), and it needs to be as reliable as possible.

Here is my current list of items:

(I realize this is out of the given price range, I'm hoping you guys can help me lose maybe $50 and blowout sales help the rest).

What I really want is:

  • i5-4670k (No AMD please)
    GTX 770 (No ATI please)
    A [Good + Reliable] Motherboard
A [Good + Aesthetic] Mid Tower Case
    A 120-200 GB SSD (Boot Drive/Some Games) + 1 TB+ HDD @7200 RPM
    8 GB DDR3-1600+ RAM

Did not realize you are in Canada. Working on a new build.

I just know that a friend of mine got his CPU/GPU for $300 due to sales (i5-3570k, GTX 670), so I guess my only shot is to find stupid sales. I am willing to cut the GPU for now though, it is not absolutely essential for me (yet...).

Edit: Without GPU, it comes in around $900-950

if it isn't essential at the moment, get a GTX650 Ti, not only is it cheap but it isn't bad - then you can save for a much better gpu.
