So looking through the endless waves of PSU's hovering around my budget of around 60-70$. I have rested on either a CX500 from Corsair or the S12II-520W from Seasonic.
Where I am, I can get the S12II-520W for a little bit cheaper than the CX500. The reviews on this seasonic unit seems really good however i cant find any reviews for the CX500. I'm kind of stuck between these two.
Ive heard corsair is a reliable name however for the CX series im a bit confused because there have been faults in both the V1 and V2 versions of the CX500. For the seasonic one there is less negative talk however it's not as popular. Any advice or suggestions?
greatly appreciated!
I do overclock my CPU and my GPU so reliability and stability for these PSU's are really important.

Here's a link on a review by johnnyguru for the Seasonic S12, 520W. it scored a 9.7/10

And a review of the Corsair little brother the 430 which may or may not help you but should at least give you an idea of what you are considering;

Just based on these two and your post I would go with the Seasonic; you might find it cheaper elsewhere but here's a link to Newegg.

Hope this helps. Without knowing your CPU & GPU it is hard to know if this will be enough power (ie 500w).

I've got 3570k oced to 4.2ghz and a single overclocked 660ti. I will also be adding in a couple more case fans to improve airflow. The seasonic S12II-520w seems to be an old model despite getting good reviews. The CX500 is new and doesnt have any reviews so I can really decide.

I still think the Seasonic will meet your needs, but if you are still concerned about a little more wattage (and I can sympathize with you as I am usually a wattage whore when it comes to power, even though it usually is not necessary) then take a look at this Rosewill 80Plus Gold unit. These are made by Super Flower, one of the best manufactures out there.

Right now this sells with an additional 15% off which brings it to about $69 before sales tax.
{And everybody, please forgive me, but over the last 12 years+ I have found Newegg to generally offer the best deals and the best customer service. There are a lot of eTailers out there, I have tried a bunch, and they don't compare.}.

The Corsair CX500 is only rated to deliver its maximum power up to a case/ambient temperature of 30°C. If the ambient temperature rises higher than 30°C the maximum power that the PSU is able to deliver begins to drop (i.e. de-rating). The PSU's efficiency will also drop. This model only has a 3 Year warranty and uses lower quality electronic components (i.e. 85°C rated electrolytic capacitors) in its manufacturing.

The Seasonic S12II Bronze 520W is rated to deliver its maximum power up to a case/ambient temperature of 40°C but test reviews have shown that it is able to handle 50°C with no power de-rating. It uses higher quality 105°C rated Japanese electrolytic capacitors. It also has a 5 Year warranty.

The electrical performance of the Seasonic model is better than the low end CWT platform Corsair model.

Do you think 500w is enough for my build? OCed 3570k + OCed 660 Ti + 4-5 Case fans. Ive decided to go with the XFX Core Edition Pro550w as my first choice however if there is a better deal on the S12II-520, Itl be my second choice.
btw should i consider that this specific seasonic unit is around 3 years old?

For a system using a single GeForce GTX 660 Ti graphics card NVIDIA specifies a minimum of a 450 Watt or greater system power supply that has a maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current rating of 24 Amps or greater and that has at least two 6-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors.

Total Power Supply Wattage is NOT the crucial factor in power supply selection!!! Total Combined Continuous Power/Current Available on the +12V Rail(s) rated at 45°C - 50°C ambient temperature, is the most important factor.

Overclocking of the CPU and/or GPU(s) may require an additional increase to the maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current ratings, recommended above, to meet the increase in power required for the overclock. The additional amount required will depend on the magnitude of the overclock being attempted.

The XFX Pro Series 550W Full Wired (Bronze) (P1-550S-XXB9), with its maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current rating of 44 Amps and with one 6-pin and one (6+2)-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors, is way more than sufficient to power your system configuration with a single GeForce GTX 660 Ti graphics card.

XFX uses Seasonic as the OEM for all of their PSU models.

Ko888, thanks again for your great input. Whgan, he pretty well sums it up. It looks like Seasonic or XFX would be plenty of power. That the Seasonic is an older design should not make any difference. And again, if you feel you must have more power then consider the Rosewill unit I mentioned or figure on spending a bit more $$ to step-up to another brand/model.

Thanks for all your help guys, I will be going with the XFX Core Edition 550w, however if the seasonic is cheaper I will get that.
