I am looking for a new 2TB internal hard drive for my PC . based on my budget i finally ended up on these two drives,

Please help to chose between them

1. Seagate Barracuda 2 TB (ST2000DM001)
2. WD Caviar Green 2 TB (WD20EZRX) Desktop Internal Hard Drive ?

if you are planning to use the drive as your main drive, for gaming, or in a RAID configuration, get the Seagate.

if this drive is a secondary drive and is only use for storing file or for backups, get the WD

^ Agreed. If they're the same price, though (you didn't provide any links or price info), you might as well just go for the Seagate. WD Greens are generally a bit slower because they're meant to be lower energy consumers. Consider warranty, too. Both companies are known for having decent warranty coverage, but it depends on the product.

I had the Seagate in my Alienware gaming rig, it failed within a year of really light use. I replaced it with a WD which is noticeably slower but I'll deal with that as long as I have peace of mind.

Seagate, regardless of purpose. I have 3 of them running alongside 2 WD Greens in my FlexRAID. The greens run just about 1 degree cooler and about 60% slower (they are 1TB platter Greens). So, if there's any power saving it's gonna be small enough to not matter to me.
