I have the Xonar DG sound card. I am trying to get Dolby Digital and DTS over optical, but after trying and reading, it appears all I can get is 2 channel PCM. But, when I go to the windows sound in the control panel, and test DD and DTS using optical, my receiver lights up that it is receiving a DD or DTS signal, and I get sound out of all 6 channels. I have tried shark007 codecs, and CCCP, and when I try to select the spdif bitstreaming for DOlby Digital and DTS, my receiver lights up that it is receiving a DD or DTS signal for a second, but then goes back to PLII and I get no sound.

Why does the sound test in windows control panel work and send DTS and DD signals, but I cannot do it in movies? Is it because the signal is compressed in windows sound? If so, is there a codec that can compress the DTS and DD signals?

From the user manual:

This was the deciding factor in my purchase. This shows the card is capable of DD and DTS through optical.

This confirms that statement.

This is what the software looks like. When I select the ceckbox for SPDIF out, the only option available under the selection is PCM.

Not sure what this is saying exactly. Is that just saying that PCM will only be 2 channels, but AC3/DTS will be 5.1 channels?
