Hi everyone. I just started researching computers and their hardware(besides the basics, which I've been researching since I was young) a few months ago. I self-taught most of what I know, and read A LOT of posts on Tomshardware.com and other sites. Anyway, I am wondering what the people of this site thought of this build

I want a gaming rig that can last the next few years, maybe a upgrade here and there, but for the main part one that can be used for awhile. I understand people here know much, much more then I do, so any suggestions, complaints, and advice would be great!
If you see a part that can be exchanged for something else that is cheaper, please tell me! I would use this primarily for gaming, college use(Microsoft Word and Powerpoint), and general entertainment (I would like 1080P Youtube and Netflix). I want this to be very high quality, but as always, cheaper is better. Any help would be highly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
-Pete
PS- Of course I would like it to stay cool and pretty quiet. I'll throw a few bucks into a component if it means getting a quieter/cooler build.

Thanks! I'll definitely look into that case. And the more fans the better, which is good because I heard the 7970 can run hot. I updated the CPU cooler to a Cooler Master V6, which is supposedly pretty good. I'll probably be adding more HDDS in the future, so thanks for the tip. Sadly, I can't afford a better SSD, but I can always get a better one if the time comes. And I'm not going to Crossfire/SLI... it's just out of the budget. But thanks for everything! Definitely helped out a bit!

I think this is the best budget PC for around $1100? The GPU also comes with borderland 2+ 4 other free games! That's worth over 200$, if you were to buy them on steam

Now there's a lot of room for upgrades if you need to, but this is the best budget build and you won't get any lacks in performance overall.

Here's a few upgrades you may consider if you want to spend more.

1. Upgrading the 7970 to a Gigabyte 770. You'll experience 10-20% increase in performance. However, you're losing around $200 worth of games and you'll have to write another 100$ out of the checkbook.

2. Upgrading the PSU to a Silencer Mark 3 750W or a Corsair TX 750W v2. The CX is great for budget builds, but you get a bit more quality with those other PSU.

Besides that, i think you'll have a great PC at a even better price

Thanks! I'll probably not get the 770, as I heard the two GPUs were both pretty good, and I get 4 games with the 7970. However I'll definitely upgrade the PSU. Doesn't matter how good it is on a budget if the components fry! Thanks again!
