I am building a new i7-4770K gaming/video PC. I wanted to stay under $300 for the video card, but I was looking at the Vapor-X 7970 which Newegg has for $349 AR with the 4 games which I don't really care about. With the release of the 760 would I be better of going with one of those and buying a second in a couple months to SLI for games like COD: Ghosts, BF4, and Titanfall. Or should I just stick with the single 7970?

I will be only be gaming at 1080P so I don't know if I will truly see a big difference. I will be coming from a GTX 460 and an older i5-651.

The Sapphire 7970 GHz Edition Vapor-X @ NewEgg is a great deal right now. At $349 after rebate and 4 free games (all of which are popular titles) it's not a bad way to go. The 7970 GHz Edition IS faster than the GTX 760. The new 760 offers a compelling $250 card that performs well. For 1080p gaming though the 7970 GHz Edition will provide extra FPS that you may desire for some games.

Here's a review of 760 that also benchmarks 7970GE (GHz Edition)

Take a look at the benchmarks and decide for yourself what's worth the money though.

BTW: The 7970 GHz Edition is darn near a GTX 770. In some AMD leaning game titles it can even beat out the 770.
