WG WDG1S5000VN Confusion

It says Tivo Verified on the bottom... seller said "It doesn't work for Tivo anymore but it works for computers"
I want to use the WDG1S5000VN as an external hard drive...
Idk what tivo is.
The hard drive has a SATA port and a power port.
