I have never made a thread, but I've helped a lot of people despite my somewhat cantankerous nature. so this is my first.

The new forum software is a straight up horror. Constant double posts even when you do not refresh.

I can select best answer on posts I have nothing to do with.

Login went to hell. the whole forum is horrible on smart phones.

Why is this new software so horrible? And why won't they go back to what worked? Money I assume?

Its so bad I think they will lose all intelligent users. And us intelligent ones are the only ones answering the morons who are to lazy/stupid too google. And they need the morons to.click the ads. What do they think will happen when we get fed up of their failure and go somewhere.else? And there are no more volunteers to draw in the idiots for answers/ads

More about : forum horrible

Hey there,

Sorry you are having issues with the new forum setup. Allow me to address your concerns in turn.

Editorial commentary, I'm guessing, is where you are having this issue. We're still having some problems there with double-posting and voting, unfortunately. These are being worked on right now.

You have 20+ badges and more than 4,400 posts. We expect if you click the Best Answer button, you know what you are talking about as your track record indicates. And, if for some reason you don't, another user, moderator or original poster may disagree with your assessment.

These are both features the dev team is working on making stronger, more compatible and responsive. There have been a few minor issues in some outlying browsers where the layers for login aren't working 100%, but we're hoping to address this shortly.

Since bringing the new forum software online, we've eliminated the ads completely in the entire community for all registered users. We've also seen a dramatic spike in the number of users, the usage of the forum - pretty much every qualitative metric has gone up. We're very proud of that.

We value our veteran users, experts who answer questions and stick around, and it's one of the reasons we've designed and upgraded as open as we have. This forum category itself is littered with threads soliciting community feedback on a host of new features that were gradually introduced, beta tested, tweaked and launched all with direct community input. In some cases (Follow Feature Feedback for instance) we even incentivized your constructive criticisms with goodie bags and swag.

I do hope you'll stick around, and give the new setup a chance.

Yours,
-JP

Long time since I was here and I have to agree with unskol, that the older platform before the upgrade in march was MUCH better. I used to find toms hardware addictive, but now it just doesn't appeal to me and I rarely ever come to the forums now. Overall, I was happier with the older platform.

Got a notification saying smeezekitty replied to this thread. Seems like fake notifications are going out today...

We were having some issues yesterday with the server hiccuping, which have been resolved. Please disregard any "fun" side effects like phantom notifications or other interruptions of service that may have cropped up from yesterday afternoon's temporary outage.

yes i too agree with unskol

such as right now i needed to go behind a vpn to log into this site.

to participate in a ask me anything i found out i have been banned .

now i have never ever broken any rules in my humble opinion

then i found out that probably the new system has a ip ban that works on any user means whether you are a registered or not if your ip is banned in the list then you cant post. and that list is not probably maintained by tomshardware its probably a automatic generated list used by random unknown and some less known forum.

Although i like some new things of the new tomshardware i definitely have to say the interaction in the new site is definitely not tomshardware like. Tomshardware is not small so i think these things could have been done with more precautions.

The new software really puts me off. I think they could've just made performance improvements to the old platform.

All of the differences to the "new" forum that I'm aware of are NOT improvements.
