First things first, this is my first time posting on this forum so I'm hoping I don't look like too much of an idiot to start off haha.

Basically I'm looking to build my own gaming rig with a budget of $800 - $1000 AUD that can run games such as Planetside 2, Shogun 2: Total war and the upcoming Rome 2: Total war on medium to high settings. Also, if possible, I would like to have parts that will compatible with newer parts if in the future I decide to upgrade.

This is the link to my build, but I really have no experience at this so its pretty much just thrown together just to see what people think.

If the link doesn't work, the specs are as follows:

CPU: AMD FX-8120 3.1GHz 8-Core Processor $149.00

CPU COOLER: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler $35.00

MOTHERBOARD: Asus M5A99FX PRO R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard $165.00

RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory $85.00

STORAGE: -Plextor M5S Series 128GB 2.5" Solid State Disk $99.00
-Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive $95.00

VIDEO CARD: Asus GeForce GTX 650 2GB Video Card $149.00

CASE: Thermaltake VN900A1W2N (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case $59.00

POWER SUPPLY: Silverstone Strider Plus 750W 80 PLUS Silver Certified ATX12V /
EPS12V Power Supply $145.00

OPTICAL DRIVE: LG GH24NS95 DVD/CD Writer $21.00

TOTAL: $1002.00

Again, I honestly have no idea how good or bad this build is and I am welcome to ANY feedback/recommendations. My only real restriction is budget and the availability of parts (from what I have heard, not all sites ship to Australia)

Thanks in advance guys,
Daniel.

You don't need 750 watts for that system.

Thanks for pointing that out mate, as I said, I'm completely new to this haha. I also had a friend tell me that the video card was shit, any opinions on that?

yeah, way overkill on the psu, a good quality $50 antec 450w psu would suffice. Or split the difference, half your budget on the psu and put the rest to a better gpu.
And for planetside 2, it does not utillize 8 core cpu's at all, the 8120 is a slow bulldozer cpu with slow cores. A much better option would be the fx 6300 with newer faster piledriver cores, and more clock speed, will be much more beneficial for gaming than the 8120.
