I just purchased the new AMD A4-4000 richland core that came out in may of this year. It's a dual core at 3.0ghz and 3.2ghz turbo mode, that came with the HD7480D intergrated graphics. The 7480D IGP will probably not be sufficient to run some of games, I just called AMD and confirmed the new A4-4000 richland can be setup in "dual graphics" with the 6450 card. SInce the A4-4000 is relatively new new and i am unable to find much information on it, how much would pairing the 7480D with the 6450 card improve my graphics? Would the A4-4000 be even powerful enough to catch up to the pairing? Is it worth it for thi set up??

Though a 6450 only cost less than $30 on newegg..

My FM2 motherboard does have 2 PCI express x16 slot for regular crossfirex setup, however, I felt if I do that that kinda defeats the purpose of buying the A4-4000 APU in the first place siince I will not be making use of the hD7480D IGP, and the whole point was to save money....if i was not to use the IGP I migiht as well buy a phenem :)

Please advise if adding a 6450 card will improve graphics and will my A4-4000 be powerful enough to handle it :)

thanks!

Hello

The A4-4000 is a dual-core processor with integrated Graphics. Basically you have an Athlon with graphics. Pairing it with the 6450 will help you a lot only if you intent to plays games that do not use High demand games such as BF3, Crisis etc. This combination is excellent if you are playing Mincraft, Sims, MMORGP etc...You may use it to play other games but, remember to keep the graphics as simple as possible sense the 6450 video cards have lower streams processor and slow memory. Graphics should improve like 50% if you go with this setups. But i really recommend the A6 sense it can run the 6570 or 6670 that is way better, unless do not use dual graphics and instead buy a 6570, 6670 or better and run it as CPU and GPU individual.

I hope this help you.
