So i was wondering which cpu is better in gaming and overall performance. The amd 8350 or the i5 3570k. I would also like a gaming rig suggestion (cpu, gpu, ram, motherboard, etc)

I would like this rig to cost max 1000 dollars, but i would like it for around 850-900 dollars.

For gaming, hands down it's the 3570K, pair it with a decent mobo like the Rock's Z77 Extreme 4, 8GB of 1866/CL8 or 9 like the GSkill Snipers F3-14900CL9D-8GBSR puts you about $425, get the best GPU you can fit in with whats left and maybe a SSD for the OS and apps,...if you already have a system can prob reuse optical drives, hard drives, maybe PSU, case, etc

Great sticks have used a couple hundred sets anyway, my new favorite is the Tridents, have 32GB 2400 in my Z77, am looking to 32GB of the 2800 for Haswell build....hoping though they'll come up with some faster Snipers, they are extremely versatile and OC-able

Are you overclocking?
What's your budget?
Do you need a monitor/os/keyboard/mouse?

The i5 is better, but it is more expensive. Since it's gaming, you want to make sure your processor isn't stronger than your gpu.

And slower performance in everything else you do, doesn't matter to me one way or the other, all my clients want best performance in all they do, even the hard core gamers...and none want AMD, most AMDers even give the nod to the 3570K if it's in the budget as the better choice

answering real chaos's questions:

yes, i plan to oc
my budget is around 800-900 dollars
i need an os ( i was planning on having 4 or so diff os like osx snow leopard, win7, win8, ubuntu. Each partition 500gb except for win7 = 1tb. but i would start with win7 then get more hard drives and build on. ) i have a monitor but i plan on upgrading it later on, i have a keyboard and mouse but i want a gaming set.

Yes i will be surfing the web and videos, also gaming so i would probably need good multitasking from a cpu and at least a 2gb gpu
