A good Graphic Card to upgrade my system

I would like to upgrade my desktop. First of all I would like to upgrade my graphic card.
My PC have the following composition:
Mother board: ASUS M2N-E SLI
CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6000+
RAM: 6 GB
Graphic Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT (512 MB)
power supply: 850W
OS: Windows Vista 32

I would like a low budget suggestions.

really depends on what you want to do with the graphics card,

the 7850 or the 660/760 are good places to start if you want new,
and secondhand the 580GTX are going for around 100,

650TI/7850 can be had for around 120quid new from scan.co.uk
read the reviews online about which make to go for, its just preference on nvidia or amd, im a nvidia kinda guy!! (670GTX atm)

My motherboard doesn't have a PCI Express 3.0 slot. 650 use the PCI-Express 3.0, will it work using a 2.0 slot?.
My Mother board have the following PCI Slot:
2 x PCI Express x16 slot with NVIDIA® SLI™ technology support, at x8, x8 speed
2 x PCI Express x1
2 x PCI 2.2

yes they are backwards compatible and you wont see, if any, performance decrease!! hope this helps!!
