Hi, im looking for advice for the best wireless networking method for a new pc I am about to build. The PC will be too far away for a direct ethernet connection to be possible so I am forced to look for a wireless alternative. I have looked into several methods and am unsure as to which method would be best for me.

1. Wireless PCIE card / USB dongle
I would ideally like this option but I am worried about the connection due to it sitting behind my desktop case. With the USB method I am worried that the USB transfer speeds would slow down the connection. I am currently looking at these two products and would like to know if they are any good.

2. Wireless Bridge
I looked into wireless bridges and noticed that some people were saying that it would cut the performance by 50% because it would be sending and receiving information from the router. Can anyone confirm this?

3. Powerline adapters
This method would be ideal but I would prefer to pay less than £20 if i can. I have also seemed to notice that they actually give a higher ping than wireless methods on speedtests I have seen, can anyone confirm this?

Please can you help advise me as to what method I should choose. I would like a method that is under £20 is possible and will give me the best speed and ping. Thanks :)

For £20 ($30.00 USD) your options are kind of limited, since you are concerned about ping and transfer speeds I presume you are going to be playing online games.
Since you are building a desktop I recommend getting a PCI-e card as USB is usually not as efficient for range.
I generally only look for name brand products in the $54 USD range.

Powerline adapters will also limit your bandwidth to ~500Mbps and inherently cause latency issues by creating two additional hops, and will depend a great deal on the wiring in the house since they are not designed to carry the same signals, turn on the microwave/hair dryer/vacuum and experience connectivity issues.
When I turn my PC on in my current home my lights dim. Then the issues as far as lightning would be concerned unless you run the ethernet cable through a surge suppressor. Don't see why someone would want to run communications through it.

Alternatively you can get 100 ft. of Cat 6 cable for rather cheap: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&...
Cat 6 is rated to ~300 ft, so you could also buy a spool.

As for a wireless bridge/AP would be a more expensive solution. As for the speed, 300Mbps / 2 = 150Mbps, unless you're on Google Fiber (Gigabit Internet), I wouldn't be too concerned. As far as the technicals, some wireless bridges will switch between client and AP mode effectively reducing the bandwidth in half, so it would depend on the make and model you bought.
