Tv as a monitor help

I have just built a brand new gaming rig and want to hook it up to my tv since I have no monitor. I used an hdmi cable from my rig to my tv and that is it. It is not working so domimhave to do something more?

First of all, do you have a dedicated graphic card? If so make sure you are plugged into that and not the motherboard hdmi port.
Secondly.... make sure your tv is on the right input (HDMI 1 or something like that)

I have a radeon hd 7970 GPU and it is plugged into that. Also the input is on the right source... Is it possible that there isn't a proper connection somewhere inside the computer?

Yes. Every fan is working including the CPU as well

If you card fans are running it means it is getting power. All I can say is that it could be a faulty hdmi cable or the connections are not plugged in all the way

Well crap. My cable has been working fine and I used a new one that came with the card so that's not an option. Also I've tried plugging the cable into multiple hdmi ports on my tv so that's not it either.... Uuuugggghhhh

is there another display you could try in your house? Just to confirm its not the computer itself?
