I'm looking to upgrade my Motherboard to a Z87, as well as my videocard to a 7800 series or some form of NVidia. I haven't had Nvidia in a long time so I'm not sure on how much better the cards are stability wise and compatibility with other games and programs.

Right now I'm looking at Asus Maximus VI Hero, Gigabyte Sniper M5, and MSI GD65. I do game primarily, and have not overclocked, but wouldn't mind tinkering with it in the future. I'm going to also grab an Intel i5 4670K CPU for the Z87.

Video Card wise I was looking into the Sapphire HD7950 3GB, HIS IQ Turbo
HD 7850 2GB 256-bit GDDR5, HIS IceQ H787Q2G2M Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition 2GB 256-bit GDDR5, XFX Double D FX-785A-CDFC Radeon HD 7850 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 for Radeon.

GTX:
GIGABYTE GV-N66TOC-2GD GeForce GTX 660 Ti 2GB 192-bit GDDR5,
EVGA 02G-P4-2761-KR GeForce GTX 760 2GB 256-bit GDDR5, and EVGA 02G-P4-2760-KR GeForce GTX 760 2GB 256-bit GDDR5.

I have around a $600 budget, as well as a $220 newegg giftcard which is part of my budget.

If anybody has any preferences or suggestions for something else, it would be much appreciated. I haven't done an upgrade in around 5 years, so I'm hoping to do the same trend, and spend more money now to not have to do major upgrades for the next few years.

Either the Asus or GigaByte mobo is a good choice, maybe a 4670K CPu, and then the rest into your video card, PSU is good for a single GPU and the mobo/CPU, DRAM and other components look good, prob wouldn't mix the DRAM just stick with the 16GB of 1600, adding the 1333 will drag you down

Yeah the 1600 is good, and I might eventually get another set of it for giggles, the 1333 i have as backup. I think I'll end up going with the Asus just b/c i've had great experiences with them and have other stuff from them like Router and Monitors and its all great stuff. The 4670K is a good deal, now I just gotta pick a video card. I have a feeling that i used to have an NVidia but went to Radeon b/c it was cheaper. My brother built my last two computers so this is my first venture into the building/upgrading world.

I won't say one is better than the other, but I've pretty much always leaned towards nVidia, and budget always seems to play in, so shop around and go with what you like, there's a number of good cards that will run things at max, and I throw in the budget comment, just because I think some are overkill

Well After Consulting with my brother, he agreed with the Asus board, CPU and the XFX 7850 Radeon ... so I believe that's gonna blow anything i'd ever want to do out of the water. Thanks for the help Tradesman1 !
