I am working on building my first computer, I am looking for some peer review before I ordered them.

CPU/motherboard...
MSI B85M-E33 Intel B85 Motherboard and Intel Core i5-4570 Processor Bundle
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=8216889&sku=M69-7186

Ram...
Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR3 1600MHz
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=40739&sku=C13-5720

Hard drive...
WD Green 500GB 3.5", SATA 6Gb/s, 64MB Cache
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2128463&sku=TSD-500AZRX

Case...
Cooler Master Elite ATX Mid-Tower Case
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7239504&sku=C283-2063

Power supply...
Ultra 550-Watt Power Supply ATX

Currently this all costs about $500 but I don't mind stretching my budget.

I plan on using development and programming. Its kind of across the board but I put so much ram on the system because I will probably be running virtual machines. I may just get 4GB for now but then 8GB if I decide I need it. As for the PSU, that was not the original one I planned on using I was trying to cuz costs and saw that it had good reviews ;) but who cares about $20 I will change it to a corsair or what you recommended!

Now if I threw a graphics card on this baby later and decided to do some casual gaming would this be able to handle it? Or would you recommend I splurge for a slightly nicer chip and motherboard that supports 1800Mgz ram?

Seems like you need an all-rounder here and believe me, now this thing can go long way :)
Well if cost is not an issue than why not go for a entry/mid level machine?

- U interested in OCing? If not that the processor is good enough just upgrade the chipset to H87 as it will give you sufficient room for some future upgrades such as SLI/Crossfire etc, otherwise for OCing, go for the 4670K with a Z87 motherboard.
- 8gigs of Ram is oK.
- HDD is as per your requirement but I would suggest to go for seagate ST1000DM003 1TB since it is 7200rpm will perform better.
- Case is good. but again if OCing, u will need better air or liquid cooling to keep the chip cool.
- PSU again will depend on ur future intentions of GPU. Better spend today on a good PSU so that when u throw in the GPU(s), you wont have to redo the PSU thing again. for a single GPU, the 550-650w bronze certified are more than enough. you can narrow down your choices, Cooler Master, Thermaltake and Corsair make very good and reliable PSU, you can go with any of these brands.

That is a great hard drive option I didn't see that one! I switched to that as well as changing the cpu/ motherboard to this one www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=8216664&sku=M69-7156&SRCCODE=MDOTTD&MobileOptOut=1 I changed my PSU to a corsair 500W now I wanted to know about the limitations of a 500W supply. With the system I have described how much headspace does this leave me for expansion? Also if you noticed I used an mid tower case, what kind of limitations does that gove me compared to a full tower. My final question is about cooling. How much additional cooling will I need on top of the stock case cpu and psu fan? Thankyou guys!

Ok. Let me get this one by one.

PSU - A 500w PSU wont leave much headroom for upgrades if you plan to install a high-end GPU in near future. Since they also tend to loose power overtime due to capacitor aging. I would suggest to go for a good 550W PSU such as Cooler Master GX series or Corsair/thermaltake variants. Check for 80Plus certification.

Mid-Tower -- Since it is not going to be a overclocking build, you do not need to think much about cooling. get a good Heatsink such as cooler master 212 evo and you are good to go. However, if in future you install a GPU, perhaps you can than install a couple of additional fans on the case. In the mentioned configuration however, extra cooling is not required.
