there was a lightning two days back near by my home the wifi antenna receiver stopped working immediately after the lighting. Does lighting effect the wifi receiver antenna or it may be current fluctuations??

shankar. when we had a bad storm was a sudden boom, lights went out. when they came back on,Wi-Fi modem was shot. After my provider sent a new one.I discovered my desktop no longer registered i had a ethernet connected. It's the standard one connected directly to motherboard. I went with a Usb wierless instead of another lan cable to prevent this from happening again. So i believe it was lightning that traveled to your Wi-Fi and fried it.Please make sure your ethernet on your pc is still functioning. I suggest you also go to wireless Ethernet card. either internal one or a usb type. having a cable connected to a device that allows lightning to travel into my pc makes me very nervous indeed...
