ASUS MX239H can be had around £190. Disregard manufacturer-quoted response times (they're pretty much useless - response is too complex to be boiled down into a single number). For genuine understanding, get on tftcentral.co.uk and read up on RTC overdrive and panel techs. Or just grab that MX239H :-)

Oh and set Trace Free to 40 for best results.

Thanks Sam, I will look into that. Do you think 5ms is good enough for FPS gaming?

p.s. I almost wet my pants when I just saw this. http://www.scan.co.uk/products/27-iiyama-plg2773hs-full...

Do you think 27" is too large for FPS gaming?

I do indeed think the response is good for gaming, but like I say, it doesn't mean much. I can show you examples of an 8ms IPS absolutely slaughtering a 6ms IPS. My monitor is slower (in real terms) and it's still excellent for gaming on. And I don't think 27" is too large, though I don't think it's necessary either. If you get a bigger monitor, you'll typically increase the distance slightly from where you sit, so the amount of your view it occupies will be much the same.

Looks like I may be going for a BenQ, based on this glowing review:

http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/benq_gw2450hm.htm

I think the latest model is the GW2460HM which is currently £143 on Ebuyer.

Any thoughts guys? Whatever I go for, I'll post my personal thoughts here.

p.s. Just picked up an AMD 7970 for £193! :)

Haha I love TFT Central but it was that same review that caused me to buy that monitor and it was bollocks! Sent it straight back for a refund. It was actually slower than my PVA panel and colour quality was barely better than TN. Turn the brightness down enough for decent blacks and colours became washed out. Gave me a new appreciation for the monitor I already owned :-)

Saved me from wasting my money then, cheers!

The Asus looks good, but I don't really need the speakers etc TBH...

May just look for a 120hz IPS and be done with it!

No worries :-) It was a real letdown after such a positive review. I'm afraid you won't find a 120Hz IPS! Do you mean TN? I'd generally avoid speakers too. Obviously I wouldn't actually use them but there's just something about having crappy speakers that's almost worse than having no speakers... the ASUS PA238Q doesn't have speakers and it's awesome. Though I think we should both just disregard speakers - it doesn't really matter :-) They're not obvious features visually.

Haha don't get stressed. Appreciate the fact you have options! There's actually a bunch of excellent monitors for around £200 and below. I only singled out the MX239H initially cuz it's sleeeeek. But I'd recommend all these:

ASUS ML229H
ASUS ML239H
ASUS MX239H
ASUS PA238Q/PB238Q (pretty much just speakers on the B version to differentiate but if it's cheaper...)
ASUS VG23AH
Iiyama ProLite X2377HDS
Iiyama ProLite XB2380HS
Iiyama ProLite X2485WS
Iiyama ProLite XB2485WSU

Pleasure :-) I'd recommend the ASUS models first, but any of those should serve you well.
