I have a router that is connected to the modem by a coax cable. I want to switch the location of the router and get new router also. I ran an ethernet cat5e cable to the new location but I have no idea how to set the internet up. The new router broadcasts a signal but with no internet connection. Can someone help me figure this out?

Are you replacing your router with a new one, or adding one on? Better to replace the existing one, and expand the network with a switch if you need to. If you string two routers together, you will need to configure it to act like a simple switch anyway, so may as well just use a switch. If replacing, connect the modem to the new router and connect the cable yo ran to one of the ports on the new router.
