high cpu and ram usage

My computer is using a lot of CPU and RAM,
As soon as I start my computer my CPU usage goes up to 100%. Within about 15 minutes of usage I receive a warning message that I am low on memory.
When I went into safe mode to run a virus scan the problem went away and my CPU usage was down to about 10-30%. And ram usage was almost nonexistant. Malware bytes only picked up a small problem that came from some software that I installed forever ago, but this is a new problem. I'm really considering reinstalling windows.

It sounds to me as though there is a driver conflict or a corrupted driver. Have you installed any new hardware or programs lately? Anyway, reinstalling your OS should fix that (probably the least complicated way to do so)

There really is no easy way which is why I say reinstalling the OS would probably be the easier route here. You could try Driver Fusion (free version) from Treexy which may be of help (I've not used this program) http://treexy.com/products/driver-fusion or DriverSweeper from Guru3D here http://www.guru3d.com/content_page/guru3d_driver_sweeper.html (I have used this but I do not consider it user friendly - maybe it's just me)
