radeon xfx 7870 or radeon 7870 GHz edition

Is there a difference between the radeon xfx 7870 "only one fan" and the radeon 7870 GHz edition "top is red and black"? Im asking because I can't find much on any of these two video cards. Maybe im just bad at looking but I'll leave it to the pros. I had the GHz version the one that has a red and black top but had to get it replaced and got back a xfx 7870.

The GHz Edition of any AMD card has a higher base and boost clock speed, and generally enjoys higher performance because of it. Always get the GHz Edition when you have the choice.

The exceptions are the more expensive 7870 XT/LE cards, which use an entirely different chip.

Generally the single fan versions are noisy. But I am not sure it is worth getting rid of that one just to get the GHz.

I haven't installed it just in case in case I have to return it. I'll call customer support maybe they might be able to tell me which of the two is better.

Assuming neither one is a 7870 XT/LE, then the one to keep is the one with the larger flat fan, rather than the blower fan that blows across the card and out the back venting bracket.

Hah, called it! Keep the nice shiny silver XFX one. The red and black one is a noisy and hot reference cooler, ewww.
