Hi guys, wondering what graphics card people would recommend for under £250, not just nvidia vs amd... more what brand etc! (looking at sales of higher end cards too!)

been looking at things like the gigabyte gtx 760 oc and the sapphire 7950 vapor-x :)

The 760 is great and new, it is a $250 in US, and it is wonderful for the price. It is a little better than the 660 ti, but here is the good part, if you get a 760 it has nvidia's GPU boost 2.0, it basically means it overclocks the GPU based on temperature, so if you got the gigabyte windforce or evga acx cooling, then it would be more than capable of being a really good gpu, with the price. The GPU is still really good by it self, but these features make it even better.

Agreed! I'm pretty sold on one of those two graphics cards, it seems EVGA is currently going for a bit cheaper on amazon and stuff than the Gigabyte, also tom's hardware hasnt covered the evga but saying that the gigabyte is the most powerful and quietest of the card they've tested? http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/geforce-gtx-760-review-gk104,review-32717-6.html how would the evga hold up?

Also on other forums I've seen people going on about the 7950 being better particularly during overclocking - but it's also £30ish more expensive? I probably wont overclock as well

EDIT: this is pretty interesting: http://img.hexus.net/v2/graphics_cards/nvidia/msi/n760gamer/3DOC.png
looks like MSI's OC is a beast

Thanks man. appreciate the replies!

Always a plus I suppose :) I quite like the looks of mine (though nothing is sexier than a Titan cooler, in the hardware world of course!). Black/red combo has always put me off ASUS cards and now MSI cards too. Silly reason but I can't help not wanting something ugly in there :-D

Titan is amazing :) yeah agreed hate that supposed 'gamer' look of red and balck

And it's really blocky-looking too! The ASUS cooler I mean, not so much the MSI. At least manufacturers have (mostly) stopped putting sticking pictures of monsters and aliens on their cards and boxes.
