Hi guys,

Ive been trying to learn about this FSB: DRAM ratio, but its kinda tricky to get your head round. so can anyone help me, i have an intel i5 3570k 3.4GHz, 2 sticks 4GB 1600mhz drr3. my ratio is 1:6, now my understanding is that this means for every 1MHz my fsb uses it needs 6MHz of DRAM,is that right? if so it doesnt sound very could, how can i even it out to 1:1? thanks

That goes back to the socket 775 where the FSB adjusted the system and the OC of the CPU, i.e. if you bought 1333 sticks the FSB had to run at 1333, today the mobos have a Base Clock (BCLK) and you adjust OC via the multiplier, it's basically a relic of day's past, but still helpful to many with older systems

If by socket 775 you mean my CPU socket, then my socket is 1155 and my multiplier adjust itself depending on load its under. I'm just concerned that its not running properly with a 1:6 ratio.

Your fine - as mentioned running FSB to DRAM at 1-1 was a big thing with the socket 775 mobos when most tried to match the DRAM to the FSB, but that was a few years ago, the FSB isn't a biggie anymore since they use the Base CLock on Intel. My 3570K is at 4.7GHZ and my DRAM (32GB 2400/10 sticks) is at a 1:9, so you are fine
