I recently added this to my rig and i use a Cosair H60 liquid cooler, I use to run this same rig with my Phenom II X3 and it would never hit 26+ degrees. right now it's hitting 80. But I am Rendering out a video. but one thing is that when i changed CPUs I did not add a new layer of thermal. should i quickly go out and grab a tube tomorrow?

just an update the temp drops back to 25-40 on idle.

Yes, you need to clean off all the old thermal paste, and re-apply new thermal paste. Also, the H60 is a decent cooler, but if you are overclocking, you want a good push/pull system of fans on it to keep the newer CPUs nice and cool.

Thermal paste really only accounts for a 10c difference in temperature so there might be something else going on. I have the same CPU with temps in the 60-70s (prime95, 4.5GHz, 212 EVO cooler). In conclusion? I just think that the CPU runs hotter in general.

My mistake, It's running a H40 LOL M bad. I just found this to be a surprise since when i was using the same cooler with the Phenom X3 it was under 30 even on it's prime. right now. my 8350 is still running default on 4.0-4.1 Ghz.

should i grab a Hyper 212 EVO quite a lot of people are recommending that. suppose to be par with a h100? and for the price of like 30 dollars CAD that's pretty cheap. what would the temperature be? estimate? like temperature on a fully loaded CPU

On par with the h100? Not in a life time!

however, the 212 is a very good cooler! I have the 212 and the 8350 and I get 50-65 on prime95 with a push/pull config (@4.5 GHz)
