Intel core i7 4770k comes with integrated Intel HD graphics 4660, so would I need to buy a GPU or is this enough?
Also I'm a gamer I play games like Minecraft, Call of Duty, Battlefield 3, and skyrim.

@kingbob I didn't ask for recommendations on a different CPU. I want to know if a Intel HD graphics 4660 is good enough.

More about : buy gpu intel core 4770k

If you're a gamer, you would be much better off getting an i5 (because the difference between the i7 and i5 in terms of gaming is very little), and using the extra $100 to help buy a graphics card. If you want to play those games, I'd recommend at LEAST a 7870 or a 760/660ti.

EDIT: that would let you play them on max settings.

You'll be able to play those games but certainly not max them.

For best performance in those games you would want to get a dedicated graphics card. Intel still doesn't have amd's level of igpu power but they are getting close (desktop graphics for sure, not sure about the mobile iris graphics as i haven't looked into that vs amd's offerings). Even still, you would have to play at lower resolutions WITH lower detail settings, even then, you'd have to run pretty much at minimum settings to get playable graphics with no slow downs... even then....

granted these have aa on all tests, but still point is that you would definitely want to get yourself a graphics card. if money is a problem, try stepping down to an i5 and grabbing a decent gpu, trust me you'll have FAR better performance than just the igpu itself. While games will likely start using more cores with the next gen consoles... keep in mind that these consoles are clocked at much slower speeds, which means that while AMD 6 and 8 core processors should get a boost in these games, i5s shouldn't fair worse due to being a quad core since it is still a very strong processor. Game performance will always be driven primarily by graphics cards, I don't think that will ever change.

Get an ivybridge and use the saved money for getting a high end GPU. Play it max!

the guy doesnt want recommendation on different cpus .... lol

no its not good enough. you need 7870 to max out games at 1080p. you can than extrapolate from there regarding other resolution/settings

it would be criminal of you to call ur self gamer when u "game" on intel igpu

Yeah, I merely mentioned the i5 incase he was asking because he couldn't afford an i7 + gpu.

Thoug this raises a question for me, if I'm going to use the computer for gaming and daily things, would you recommend i7 or i5? And which model of either? Then what would be a good graphics card to pair with the chosen CPU? Since I know AMD Is getting a lot better, and there are so many options...

Unless you are doing a lot of video editing, encoding, etc... then I'd say go with an i5. For daily computing, (surfing, emails, microsoft office stuff and watching movies) an i7 is extreme overkill and an i5 is just as good. For gaming there isn't a difference in most games and in games that there is a difference the difference is very small.

As for which model I'd recommend, I'd say go with the 3570k if you want to go with max overclocking, or the 4670k if you plan on overclocking just a bit. If you don't plan on overclocking get the 4670 (non k).

Now for the graphics card I'd recommend. Go with the best you can afford. If you can afford to spend up to $250 on a GPU then get the GTX 760. Up to around 300, get the R9 280X from AMD.

I choose to disagree on that. Although the I5 3570K is a great processor, for the games that this person plays (Call of Duty Blackops, Battlefield 3 etc.) he will benefit greatly from an I7 3770K or better yet the new I7 4770K. Even with a modest addon GPU (don't use the integrated one) it will still max out most demanding games. You cannot compare the 2 processors since the I7 3770k or the I7 4770K will always be significantly faster than the I5 3570K when it comes to extreme gaming. Although its quiet similar on a single core, remember that most games today are aimed at multiple cores and the 4770K outperforms the 3570K on that one.

Overal, get the fasted CPU that your budget allows, wheter it be the I7 4770, I7 3770K or the I5 3570K. All are good processors for gaming and overclocking.

As far as a Graphics card is concerned. I'd recommend the Nvidea GTX770 because although it has a 256 bit bus it still outperforms the AMD x9 280X because of its better texture rendering and higher clockspeed. I currently have a Radeon HD 5670 but after doing some research online and comparing the 2 I'm planning to buy a GTX770.

Happy gaming :-)
