My laptop won't connect to the internet even though it is connected to the router and i can see my home network. I haven't had any problems connecting either way until recently. I haven't installed anything new recently and i have the yellow triangle that says no internet access. I have tried a few things but to no avail.
The command prompt shows:
Ipv4................................10.0.0.9
Subnet mask....................255.255.255.0
default Gateway.............10.0.0.1
DHCP..............................10.0.0.1

DNS.................................75.75.75.75
........................................75.75.76.76

I have restarted router, turned firewall off and flushed dns and released and renewed ip to name a few things i have tried.

Your modem is misconfigured, based on the IP your network is setup as a router behind router, you appear to be double NATed.
You need to call comcast to ensure you have no issue with your service and to have them walk you through the setup, but you should be able to DMZ your netgear router, and have your netgear setup as an Access Point.

The general setup is usually 10.0.0.1 for the gateway for the netgear depending on the modem, but the netgear should be assigning via 192.168.1.x extending the modem's network if setup as an AP and not a router.
What is the DHCP settings for the netgear router?

EG:
Modem
IPv4: 192.168.1.1
Gateway: <comcast ISP>
Firewall: DMZ - 192.168.1.2 (No firewall/NAT for Access point)

Router (Obtain IP address automatically/from DHCP server/Modem)
IPv4: 192.168.1.2
Gateway: 192.168.1.1
DHCP: DIsabled (Don't assign IPs to devices that connect)
Firewall: Enabled (NAT for PC's behind Access point)

PC
IPv4: 192.168.1.3
Gateway: 192.168.1.2
DHCP: 192.168.1.1 (Obtained from Modem not Access Point)

What's happening instead:

Modem
IPv4: 192.168.1.1
Gateway: <comcast ISP>
Firewall: Enabled (NAT for devices that are connected)

Router
IPv4: 10.0.0.1 (IP conflict detected, assign obscure IP to resolve conflict - Netgear automatically does this)
Gateway: 192.168.1.1
DHCP: Enabled (Assign IPs to devices that connect)
Firewall: Enabled (NAT for Devices connected to Access point)

PC
IPv4: 10.0.0.x
Gateway: 10.0.0.1
DHCP: 10.0.0.1 (Obtained from Router)

With the router behind router setup any updates to your IP/DHCP from the ISP you will need to reboot your entire network to bring it back online. In other words it won't cascade automatically since your router assumes it is the master. It is technically more secure as there is double authentication occurring from the two firewalls, making you very hard if not impossible to penetrate.

DHCP settings for the netgear have been disabled and the ip address of the comcast router/modem are the default settings. Everything else i use seems to work fine, Desktop, phones, kindle and smart dvd players. All have no problem connecting to the internet.

What version of windows?
What does the router list for it's DHCP configuration (what was assigned to it by the modem/router)?

I am running windows 7. I am not sure what you mean by the DHCP configuration, but the comcast modem/router is set to be the gateway with DHCP on and the Netgear has the DHCP turned off and an address of 10.0.0.100
