Fps Issues on all games.

Hello,
Since I got my new laptop about 2 months ago, I have been experiencing lag issues on all my games.
After about 20 seconds of gameplay the fps drops to 5-10 and then after a couple of seconds the fps returns to normal. This goes on and on, making the games lag and be unplayable. I have a dell xps 15 with windows 7 64-bit
It has an Nvidia Geforce 640m and an i7 intel processor.
I am not very good at computers,
but I will do whatever it takes to get back to gaming!
Any help would be very much appreciated!

This might be because of your graphics card..... what is your average fps, such as what you would call "normal"? also what games are you playing, because 25fps+ is playable and dropping fps might be normal because of your graphics card.

drop your game settings. that isnt a powerful gpu & no1 rules.....Laptops are Just NOT Meant for gaming.

It sounds like its overheating. Download HWMonitor and check what temps you are getting.
