Is this a solid gaming PC?

There is no point in getting a high end APU and a mid range dedicated graphics card either go AM3+ with AMD ie 6300 or 8300 CPU or go Intel i5. Also get the LE/XT version of the 7870.

Yeah, I would skip AMD's Trinity / Richland APUs because the CPU cores are weak even when compared to AMD's PileDriver generation FX CPUs. Getting an Intel CPU is the ideal solution, but it does cost a little more than the FX CPUs.

Assuming you have a somewhat limited budget, I recommend either the FX-6300 or FX-6350.

My build plays most games at 1080p with 50-80 fps. Its an FX 6300 build with a 7870 OCd. I was unsure about getting an AMD but im glad I did...its all i really need :)
