Hey guys, my question is about networking. I have been using wireless for the past 6 months for my desktop computer for internet gaming and everything, anyways i decided to boost speed by bringing modem/router(Router is a NETGEAR WNR2000v2) into my room and going with the wired connection. Poof, first problem noticed already, computer doesn't recognize any new network devices, so figured it was my networking adapter driver, so i go to my mobo site Asrock for the mobo Asrock pro3 gen3 lga 1155 motherboard, get the driver, it fixes that problem and now off and running.
Second problem arises for me! I use a gaming engine called Steam(or platform for games) I'm sure everyone knows of it. Anyways i noticed when chatting with a friend, that my connection every 3-5 minutes would drop, for maybe 1-2 seconds, and disconnect me from chat. But then reconnect me seconds later, so i know the internet is only cutting off for a split second or two. i figured it was steam, but wanted to check, i used the ping command in RUN "ping -t 8.8.8.8" to constantly ping google servers, was good for first 3 minutes until "request timed out" popped up just twice then it went back again pinging google, telling me(sorry if i'm way wrong i definitely don't know a ton about computers!) but telling me that my new wired connection is dropping signal for 1-2 seconds every couple minutes. I have tested a different cable, it happened with both, also tested ping'ing google in safe mode with networking, problem still persisted there. I'm not as smart as i wish i was with this stuff, lost at this point and not sure what to do!

Just an idea... Try updating the firmware on your router.
