Monitor and Resolution Questions

I currently have a 1440x900 resolution monitor, I was wondering if I should spend the extra money and replace my 1440x900 with a 1080p monitor? or is1440x900 ok? (I will be mostly playing games like BF3/BF4, GTA, Skyrim, Dayz, etc.) wanting to play them on high/ultra settings.

Im new to the PC world and looking to build my own, altough this is the final thing that has me stuck.

The GPU will be the GTX 770 if that changes anything.
