I have 1 notificiation but can't find out what it is and it's driving me nuts. I want it to say 0, not 1. I know it's ridiculous but I can't seem to figure this out.

More about : notification

Exactly the same thing is happening with me. I have searched everywhere and there is no unread post left. Then why are we seeing this 1 notification? Does any moderator know anything about it?

Anyways here is the Screenshot of the problem.

Thanks Sangeet. It's the same for me. I don't know why but it's annoying as hell. Nothing is there moderators.

Toms acting up I think, let see if this one would post - I can not post at all. And I seen your problem but in stranger way.

thanks jp... that fixes the problem

however... i've managed to get it to 0 using that method before but it always keeps on reappearing.

perhaps the list of updated threads in the short list on the right (the one on the forum main page) isnt being updated with every single post.. or perhaps if you visit the url but then close the short list updates but the followed list doesnt?

just pointing out that i've done that fix before and it comes back (and it drives me nutty too).

@jpishgar. Yeah I finally figured that one out. Thanks though. It was frustrating like an itch you can't scratch.

Great to hear! Also note, our developers are working on a method to make this a bit more foolproof. It's a minor nag that is affecting a number of users, and a lot of us can be very OCD about thread tracking. :p

also of note.... what is with the error 404 upon clicking items from the drop down lists at the forum base page? it seems that a few posts in particular seem to be affected over the last few days.
September 23, 2013 8:29:51 AM

Yes the ERROR 404 is becoming quite frequent lately.

ssddx, are you referring to the Go to: navigation area in the forum itself? Or somewhere else on the site? More details would be helpful for identifying the issue.

Thanks in advance!

http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/

my top categories icon dropdown menus (the ones you set and show the most recent posts) i had it do when trying to navigate to some posts (it seemed to do it on the same posts)

when i went to the actual forum section and clicked on it... it did the same thing, sometimes it showed up blank and other times i got the page.

i havent seen it lately though... perhaps it was just some glitch ?

It may have just been a temporary glitch. Devs have been updating rather frequently as of late.

the ERROR 404 hasn't happened in a couple days...so I think they fixed. Awesome as always.

I'm being affected by this as of 1 or 2 days ago. Sometimes after visiting the thread 6 times it will finally go away, other times it won't. It doesn't affect every thread either. It seems to be sporadic, so I don't have any repeatable way to reproduce it.

Marking all as unread works, but it's not really a nice solution if it needs to be done repeatedly.

another issue...

currently the "1 notification" has gone away (for now......)

but i'm getting the same posts coming back on my list when no new information was added (and the latest post wasnt edited). is there a reason for this? if it got updated because someone edited a post i think there should be some way that points it out so we know whats new (besides searching a whole thread for a timestamp that matches)

You might get an update from time to time if someone has posted something to a thread you are tracking, and that post was deleted. This is likely what's happening for you.
