Hi, I'm 17 and I have always wanted to build my vary own computer. Now that I have a job I've been saving up and have roughly around $1000 to spend. I research parts all the time and how they work and what makes one better than the other but I am still a noob overall and was wondering if anyone could give any feedback on the parts I selected, maybe I'm paying to much for something I don't need or something like that. ANY COMMENTS OR INSIGHT IS HELPFUL. :)

This is what I have so far:

Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core $220.98
Asus P8Z77-V LK ATX LGA1155 $123.98
Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 $93.60
Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM $84.98
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 760 2GB Combo or $265.91
Corsair C70 Arctic White (White/Black) ATX Mid Tower $128.98
EVGA 650W ATX12V / EPS12V $79.99
LG UH12NS29 Blu-Ray Reader, DVD/CD Writer $49.98
Microsoft Windows 8 (OEM) (64-bit) $89.73
Asus VS248H-P 24.0" $169.99

I'm having A LOT of trouble deciding between AMD and Nvidia cards for around the 200-300 price range so i have the 760 in there just as a place holder.

Thanks in advance,
~Dustin

What about Gigabyte? Is this a reliable version of the gtx 760? The only reason I'm having trouble deciding weather or not to get AMD is because the next gen consoles all run on AMD...soooo wouldn't that mean i would get better performance on games ported from consoles??

Nope. Each game is designed to take full advantage of each specific part, and to my belief each console is using a custom AMD GPU. I'd also go for an AMD CPU (6300) and buy a h80i, and overclock it to 5ghz. Spend the money saved on a better GPU. Also dont forget you can overclock GPU's as well.
