Hi

Looking to setup a home radiology pacs workstation. I've been debating about just getting the NEC 30 4MP monitor for the house (mostly on call nights and weekends). 3MP monitors are really outrageous in price.

I saw that Dell announced a 32" monitor today (q4 shipping). Resolution is 3,840 x 2,160. I thnk thats a 8MP monitor.

So any thoughts about this monitor as a home pacs workstation monitor?

or even the NEC. I think they claim a 2MP is image review and not diagnostic

3,840 x 2,160. 4k Monitors are new in the market (outside an old discountinued IBM) ,

Sharp released one called :

Sharp PN-K321

Link here : http://www.sharp-world.com/products/professional-monitors/products/pn-k321/index.html
3,840 x 2,160 and 32 inch and 8.2 MP

is around $4,500

I think Dell are using the same Panel (I have to check)

2- Eizo Released one with better Resolution , 4096x2160 , but is very expensive , and 36 inch

this one

at $21,000

I know alot , but you are talking business , so maybe price is not an issue ... this is 8.8 Mpixel and bigger 36 inches

Expect NEC to release one soon.

this is the info I know about 3.8kx2.1k , and 4.1kx2.1k monitors..

8MP screens are the new trend ... I am Sure NEC will follow soon.

Asus anounced one too , but I would not pick Asus over Eizo OR Sharp.

lol there is an 8kx4k one too :p

Take into consideration the latest ACR recommendations for Diagnostics of DR/Plain. 3MP pixel pitch is what is recommended. If you are just reviewing at home, 2MP would be satisfactory. Double Black carries new and demo/evaluation units. www.doubleblackimaging.com E-Mail: Sales@doubleblackimaging.com

For non-diagnostic stuff you should be OK with some good quality IPS monitors. I worked in radiology PC support at a hospital, the emergency room and OR radiology computers used regular Planar color IPS monitors running at 1600x1200 or 1280x1024.

The diagnostic systems the rads used had $10,000 black/white monitors.

Someone contacted me from here about monitors and said they had a hard time finding my information. I have fixed my email. There was a typo. It is philip.hobson@baylanddigital.com

If anybody else is looking for Barco monitors, I can get pretty much any model they carry (new or refurbished) and give you a better price than you will find anywhere else.
