I have a Sony Vaio laptop model # VPCSC31FM/silver

I have been using for a half year, was running smoothly; however, recently it stopped displaying the desktop.

It turns on fine, you can barely see the screen, but it's very dark.

Took it to couple repair centers, but they couldn't fix it because it is the problem with the video card, and they cannot replace it.

My laptop is out of warranty, so I cannot fix it at the Sony store.

I don't know the exact problem, is it the graphics card or the lamps? Should I replace the motherboard?

Please, help!

try hooking it to an external monitor and see if it works.

if it does then it is the LCD panel and easy to replace .

if NOT then it is the GPU ... you can open it , and take out the harddisk , the battery and the CPU , the keyboard , the ram and sell them on Ebay ..

and buy new notebook
