Dear Tech Experts,
Currently I have AMD A6 5400k + 8GB Ram (kingston) and Sapphire HD 7770 1GB and FM2-A55M-E33 motherboard. Not gonna lie, it is pretty bad. No chance to get recent titles on frame rate higher than 25. Of course I understand that my CPU isn't good enough to run ,for example, Far Cry 3. That's why I decided to sell my CPU+ Motherboard, and save enough money for I5 or I7. Because from what I have seen those are best CPU's in 350-550$ price range. So I need Your help to decide, what CPU should I buy and should I sell my GPU too. Because I want to have a good PC capable of running most recent games at high quality and decent frame rate. So my budget is 350-550$ and I need an I5 or I7 CPU + motherboard. Also, I want to know if my GPU will be good enough to run most recent games. Please help me out!

While moving to an i5/i7 would be the way to go, your problem right now is the dual core processor and the low-mid range card. Mostly the dual core. Simply upgrading the APU to something like a quad core A10-5800K or 6800K ($130-150) will let your HD 7770 crank out a little more performance. After that, if still not satisfied, go for a faster card (~$175). A lot depends on the resolution of your monitor. The more pixels/texels the card has to render, the more power is needed.

Thanks for the swift and reply, but will A10 run newest games like Far Cry 3, Battlefield 3 or GTA V (when it comes out)? Because I want to turn my "wooden box" into a good gaming PC that will last for some years and will run newest games on high quality and smooth frame rate (30 or more).

That's why I asked what rez your monitor was. At 1080p, all you would need is a good graphic card. The A10s are in the 2nd tier of AMD processors. Capable of good gaming.

Wooden box?

My monitors resolution is 1680 x 1050. What should I do?

I play Dota 2 alot, and that's just an expression we use when someone is lagging hard. Also, I called it wooden box because it can't play almost any game on higher settings then low, even games like Dota 2, Rift, Age Of Connan, CS:S.

Doh... I'm a little thick tonight. Lol
1680x1050 will be easy to upgrade into a good gamer w/o spending a fortune. The A10-X800 and something a bit more than the HD 7770 will be a major frame rate improvement. What kind of PSU do you have? Make/model...

If it's a "good" 400W PSU, you can get almost any card. But before anyone can suggest some options, you need to find the make/model of the PSU. So many low-end cheapies are rated way higher wattage than they can really handle and have poor ripple specs. Their all-important +12V rail(s) is way to weak to handle good cards. And low quality PSUs tend to die unexpectedly and take other components with it sometimes.

Hey, I recently heard that my MB can run Anthol CPU's, well those with FM2 socket, is it true and is it worth it, because I saw some Far Cry 3 gameplay on a PC really similar to mine and it looked pretty bad. I dunno A10 really isn't what I am looking for too. I want a PC that will run games like Far Cry 3 fluently on 30-60 FPS. Of course thanks for help! Also is it true that AMD GPU work better with AMD CPU? In that case I should get another GPU too, shouldn't I?

Here is the CPU support list for your MB:

The A10 APUs in the list and a good gfx card will meet your wishes. But the PSU make and model is important. See above.

The processor (CPU) you have in your system makes absolutely no difference to the graphic card.
