External hard Fat32 to ntfs

does changing the format from fat32 to ntfs change the performance of the hard drive.. i did that succesfully and suddenly my tv is taking ages to load the external hard drive

Below 32GB FAT32 has a slight performance advantage. Above 32GB NTFS holds the advantage. If you made the change via "convert x: fs/ntfs" that could be the reason for the performance difference. I've always found that a backup followed by a clean format is best.
